I took a big step yesterday in ridding myself of the credit card debt that has tormented me since graduating college in 2006. I have not used this card in a very long time due to the fact I removed it from my wallet and hid it in an envelope in my bedroom. It is one of those credit cards that we use in an “Emergency” only, but I am starting to think I might have a wee bit of trouble trying to locate it if I get in such a situation. For the past 8 months I have been setting money aside to pay off the principle of this 0% interest card and with the 0% interest offer expiring at the end of this month, the time had finally arrived to see this card to the door. It is a great feeling to get rid of almost 90% of my credit card debt, but damn, it was depressing when I clicked the “Confirm Payment” button for a such a large sum of money. I guess the whole situation will remind me that I never want to get that deep in credit card debt because it really held me back from building up a solid savings account. I am proud of myself for saving up the 6k that I did, however, it really is a downer seeing my ING account shrink after one swift click!
Money comes … Money goes … I think I need a drink …
