Grad School Tuition Up

I just received my tuition money from my company yesterday via direct deposit. My company has a very good tuition reimbursement program where they provide us with up to $9,000 per year. In comparison to other companies that some of my classmates are in, my work program is tops in the area.

The $9,000 covers approximately 4 classes per year and I usually can purchase some books on their tab as well. However, tuition and fees have gone up this year and my bill has gone over the $9,000 tuition allotment. Also, work has said they will not be reimbursing any school fees such as the technology fee of $168 that I have to pay per year.

In prior years, I never had to fit the bill for anything out of my own pocket but now I am looking at about $500 in expenses. My first reaction was a little bit of anger and disdain for my company and the university. But in reality, this shows that every industry is taking a hit in the recession, even academia.

I guess I am still not getting a bad deal right? About $500 out of my own pocket for 12 credits of graduate school work (These classes are as hard as 4th grade math). I have one year left and just want to get it done so I can work a little longer and then prepare for a challenging full-time MBA program some day (I am longshot).

I guess I should stop complaining and shutup. OK I just did, I am over it. Some of my shoebox money can go towards the out of pocket payments now. No big deal. As long as everything is getting paid down I am happy.

Enjoy the day off to those who are off! Be easy
