Personal Finance Bumps in the Road

This literally is a personal finance bump in the road and it is all due to my own fault from being behind the wheel. It is odd because on Saturday morning my dad came up to me and told me “You had better think about getting 4 new tires on your car because they are looking really bald. ” So I said to myself that I was going to look into it this week to getting my tires changed, I just was not looking forward to paying for 4 new tires.

Then fate and karma came into play that evening as I was driving downtown to celebrate a friend’s engagement. While making a turn near a friend’s place, I made a turn too carelessly and hit the curb with my back right wheel. It sounded like a gunshot and I was surprised that it did not pop instantly! I parked the car near my friends place and the tire had visible damage but no air was coming out. So I left the car in the lot and decided to check up on it at the end of the night. When we came back the tire was deflated but not to totally flat. Taking my friend’s advice, I decided to throw the donut on because I did not want to damage the rim. Rims really do cost mad money, even for the cheap ones the rappers don’t show in videos!

So it took us a while to change the tire because it was so cold that the tire refused to come off! I made it home that night driving very slowly on the donut and then came into work this morning and called up my tire place. Total damage: $600 even! What a buzz kill, especially on a Monday morning!

It stinks because this really hits my budget hard, but it is something that is totally necessary. Just extremely annoying since I am dealing with a whole lot of other financial stress from the whole idea of getting engaged and buying a rock for the lady! Extremely hard to concentrate at work today, but its just another bump in the road and it definitely will not be the last. I am going to try and relax as I take an early lunch break and go get my tires changed.

Just another reality check in this fun game called life, but I still have to come back to work, still have to pay my bills, and still have to get up the next day. Life will go on and my car is coming with me.
