Saving Money Cold Turkey Style
Nicotine – Alcohol – Heroin – Pain Killers. All of these are examples of arguably the most addicting drugs known to man. People go through weeks and months of rehab in order to kick their fix so they can move on in their respective lives.
The good news is that I do not have a drug problem (at least not that I know of) but the bad news is that I have trouble with my spending. If you have read some of articles over the last few months you know exactly what I am talking about. I kicked my credit card addiction and got that down to $0.00. Then yesterday I hit a roadblock of approximately $600 because I needed new tires.
So for this December, I am going to try and kick my spending/savings plan cold Turkey. From December 1st – December 30th I WILL NOT PURCHASE ANY ALCOHOL. Why did I choose the alcohol? It is my biggest non-necessity expense after analyzing my spending the last few months. I mapped out the weekends for December and it looks as if I am pretty occupied with activities that will keep my wallet in check. No tabs, no casual drinks during the week, and no happy hours for this guy this month.
So please, leave your words of encouragement and do not invite me out for a drink! Hahaha. In all seriousness, December is a time of the year where I want to be able to do things for certain people in my life and get things to those who deserve them. Even though it sounds pitiful that I must take some extreme measures to do so, you gotta do what you gotta do.
