With the unemployment rates these day increasing every day, more and more people out there are looking for work. A few weeks ago I heard a story about an NBA team attempting to aid those looking for work in their job search. It really is a good story to check out and a great deed on the part of the New Jersey Nets, especially during a time when even sports teams are feeling the effects of the struggling economy.
The New Jersey Nets came up with a ticket promotion to help out those looking for jobs. Any fan that drops off or posts their resume on the Net's online job bank will receive a free ticket to a Net's home game. Also, the Net's would forward the resumes collected to partnering companies as well as any of their sponsoring corporation. That is some heavy duty exposure right there! Even if I did not have a job I would do that just to go to a basketball game!
While the process is not guaranteeing a job for anyone, it is definitely a great gesture on the part of a very large NBA team to act merely as a networking headhunter for the unemployed. Imagine if more sports teams followed this trend? Even other large companies? Everyone is looking for cheaper resources these days right? Why not poll the millions of unemployed out there and sift out the cheapest demanding resource? Some people are just looking for work rather than a large salary. Something is better than nothing in the case that you are unemployed I would think.
Regardless, a great gesture on the part of a group that is not obligated to help anyone, but they did. During the rough times that our economy and country are experiencing now, we could use a whole lot more of this. Be easy and enjoy the day.

That was a very nice and creative thing for the Nets to do. No wonder I like basketball!
Thanks for the visit.
