A Twestivus For The Rest Of Us
Twitter is a social networking site where users follow each other and their updates and have the ability to share whatever is on their mind, as long as it is within the 140 character limit of a tweet.
A group of creative and gracious people came up with a charitable idea to get a meet up going of other twitter users in the name of donating to a great cause! Which started out as a small idea evolved into a massive worldwide Twestival, spanning more than 175 cities all over the globe! It is crazy how big something can become from just one little 140 character status update eh?
Check out the Twestival website and see if there is a city near you holding an event. If you aren’t doing anything tonight, make the trip to meet some really cool people who have the act of giving to others on their mind. The receiver of the donations is a group called Charity:Water. It is an organization determined to provide clean drinking water all over the world through funding for water projects. A damn good cause if you ask me!
If you can’t make it to an event or if there is not one near you, consider donating to the charity even if it is a few dollars! I am planning to hit up the Philadelphia Twestival at The Get Happy Pub downtown (You better believe I will be getting happy!).
Click through all the links because its a great cause and if you can make it out to the event I guarantee you will meet some amazing people. It is crazy how something so tiny can turn into a worldwide cause simultaneously held all over the world at one time!
In crazy times like this its good to see causes like this out there and it all started on a little social networking site that I refused to sign up for a few years back. I’m glad I finally gave in 6 months ago or I do not know what I would have wrote about today! Now its your turn, go sign up and enter the Twitter world.
