We all have one little thing that we continuously and relentlessly splurge our dollar bills on. For some people it is booze, some women have the famous foot fetish, and other people just love to eat. I fall into the latter of the list as I am habitual fast food consumer. But the root of the problem is much deeper than just buying fast food, it rests inside the walls of one specific fast food joint.
Their slogan is "EAT MOR CHIKIN" make English teachers all over the United States cringe upon every viewing. But for this guy, I have been taking this slogan way too literally. It has gotten to the point where I must admit that I have a problem, I eat too much Chic Fil A. During April I made SEVEN visits to this fast food chain to purchase at least one number one combo every single time. Notice I said at least because there were two times where I purchased an extra sandwich as well! In total during April I spent $55 at one fast food join!
We are a few weeks into May and I am happy to say that I have given up my habit cold turkey style (No pun intended to the chickens). I have spent $0.00 this month, mainly because I have said no to my friends suggesting having lunch at the local food court at the King of Prussia Mall. Every time previously I would pass any Chic Fil A vendor, I would feel obligated to purchase a crispy chicken sandwich with provolone cheese and a side of waffle fries. I am salivating as we speak and, unless your a vegetarian, you probably are too!
The point I am trying to drive home is that we all have little indulgences that could definitely be managed more efficiently. You do not have to go to extreme measures like I did in completely shutting out a certain purchase in your everyday life, you need to learn how to control it so it fits your budget better. My problem is that I was not able to control it through normal means and needed to kick it up a notch to become more disciplined. Fast food and booze are my biggest violators when it comes to my budget so I am always trying to stay on track when dealing with them too.
What indulgences do you have that could be managed better?
If you do not have one, then I think you are lying because everyone has something! Still disagree? Well, I think you still may have a problem and you better learn to control it or you may end up like Cosmo Kramer when he had a problem with Kenny Rodgers Fried Chicken! (Minute 5:35 is most conivincing) Be easy!

I don't eat chicken but I love the ads that the Chick-Fil-A cows put up. I practically break my neck looking at their billboards when driving.
I don't think I overspend on any area because I am always under my budget...so I guess I will have to take a closer look to see where I spend a LOT of money
Chick-Fil-A is delicious! Maybe you should look into coupons or something :)
@lulu - You can always find some sort of aspect you can reduce, look hard! Chic Fil A does a great job of marketing!
@SavingDiva - One thing I forgot to mention about it is for every 4 sandwiches I bought I got a free one, so there was a wee bit of good that came out of it!
$5 foot longs... need I say more?
