Take The Day Off

Today I decided to take the day off. I have 9.5 PTO (Paid Time Off) days left so I figured it was time to start using them. I actually woke up this morning with some horrible allergies, which I informed my boss about around 7:30 AM. But since then? Wow, I am amazing myself at my productivity!

List of things done/to do on this wonderful Friday:

  • Went to Home Depot to pick up new florescent lights for the basement ceiling, new doorhandles for inside the house, and staples for the carpet.
  • Picked up allergy medicine for my symptoms paid with my flexible spending account card (It actually worked!).
  • Cleaned out the entire basement and took an axe to an old desk/shelf that was too heavy to get up the stairs. (Enjoy the video!)
  • Threw out a ton of junk from my basement, I am hoping to make it the new clean home of my home brewing project.
  • Dug out my rusty old basketball hoop from the driveway that looks as if it is going to fall down during the next major rainstorm.
  • Cut the grass, do the edging, and make my parents happy to go outside and look at the lawn the 15 times a day they stand on the porch and smoke a cigarette.

Well that is it for now. I figured I would share with you, arguable, one of the most productive days of recent memory. Normally on days off, I wake up hungover at 11:00 AM and sit at the computer and B.S. all day on gChat, facebook, and Twitter. But today I went against my corpse-like ways and did the damn thing.

Do yourself a favor, take a day off and get a bunch of tasks done you have been meaning to do. You will thank me later and you will feel amazing once the damn thing is done! Enjoy the way and the weekend. Be easy.
