Blog Action Day 2009: Climate Change
Time passes and everything changes. Our recently elected president's campaign screamed out the message of making a change in this world. Our economy has seen changes, both good and bad. All of our lives have seen changes with every day that passes. Growing up, one aspect of life we always assumed to not change was our environment. 20 years ago, in elementary school I remember learning about natural resources and how we get the from the Earth and one kid always asked "Are the fossil fuels ever gonna run out Misses Teacher?" What was a teacher supposed to say 20 years ago to a little school child?
Times definitely do change. The answer to that question has dramatically changed over the past decade as movements have been spanning the globe to spread the information demonstrating how we are abusing our environment, culture, and planet. Blog Action Day 2009 is another one of those movements and that movement is today October 15th, 2009. Every year on this day, bloggers like myself all over the world unite to spread the united voice of one cause. This year's message addresses the serious topic of Climate Change.
Whether many of us want to admit it or not, the Earth of 2009 is not the same planet when some of us were born in the 1980's. I remember being able to run around in the sun without sunblock all day the entire summer, now I can barely last a few hours on a Saturday at the beach without some SPF 45! Everything around us is changing and too many stubborn people roam this Earth thinking otherwise.
Everyone needs to start opening their eyes and accepting that our climate is changing. Check out the Blog Action Day Homepage and read what some of the other bloggers have to say. Spread the word and encourage others to do the same. There is an infinite amount of information out there on ways we can make an impact, even with small changes in our lives.
Be conscious of the cause. Think about it today. Do something about it. This is the environment we are talking about. 20 years down the road... who knows what the teacher's will be telling the school students? Hopefully stories of how people came together to make a difference.
